Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional

Job Summary:
Sunbelt is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic RBTs to join our educational team near San Carlos, CA. The Special Education Paraprofessional provides essential support to students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings. Working under the supervision of special education teachers and other professionals, the paraprofessional assists in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), providing academic, behavioral, and personal care support to students. This role requires compassion, patience, and a dedication to helping students achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:
1. Assist students with disabilities in understanding and completing classroom assignments, including adapting materials and activities to meet individual needs.
2. Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students, reinforcing concepts taught by the teacher and addressing specific learning goals outlined in the IEP.
3. Support students with personal care needs, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, as necessary and in accordance with their IEPs and individual needs.
4. Monitor student progress and behavior, collecting data and anecdotal observations to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.
5. Assist in the implementation of behavior management plans, reinforcing positive behaviors and providing guidance and redirection as needed to address challenging behaviors.
6. Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement instructional strategies and accommodations that support students' learning and independence.
7. Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and included.
8. Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials, classroom activities, and student assessments, ensuring accessibility and appropriateness for students with disabilities.
9. Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other team members to share information about student progress, challenges, and successes.
10. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to working with students with disabilities and implementing effective instructional strategies.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in education, special education, or a related field preferred.
2. Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
3. Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices related to the education and support of students with disabilities.
4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
5. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
6. Ability to follow directions, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic classroom environment.
7. Understanding of instructional strategies and techniques to support diverse learning needs and styles.
8. CPR and first aid certification may be required depending on school or district policies.
9. Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in education and advocating for the needs of students with disabilities.
10. Willingness to undergo background checks and fulfill any other requirements mandated by the school or district for paraprofessional positions.
