Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and qualified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide remote interpretation services for deaf or hard-of-hearing students in our school community. The ASL Interpreter will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between students, teachers, and staff, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Provide remote ASL interpretation services for a variety of settings, including meetings, conferences, educational settings, healthcare appointments, and more.
Ensure clear and accurate communication by effectively conveying the tone, context, and nuances of the spoken language.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times.
Adhere to ethical standards and best practices for interpreting.
Collaborate with clients and colleagues to meet specific communication needs and preferences.

Requirements:

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with strong proficiency in both receptive and expressive skills.
Certification or licensure as an ASL Interpreter in MI.
Proven experience providing ASL interpretation services in educational settings, preferably in a school environment.
Knowledge of educational terminology and concepts.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, utilizing video conferencing platforms and other remote communication tools.
Commitment to supporting the academic and social development of students with hearing impairments.
