Job Description

Sunbelt is looking to hire an OR Registered Nurse to join staff for a contract assignment in Redding, California. The ideal candidate enjoys traveling and has 2 years of experience in the field. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current state RN license.
  • Certification in perioperative nursing (e.g., CNOR) preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preoperative Assessment:

    • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to gather relevant medical history, allergies, and medications.
    • Verify surgical consent forms and patient identification.
    • Prepare patients both physically and emotionally for surgery, addressing questions and concerns.
  2. Intraoperative Care:

    • Assist the surgical team by setting up and maintaining a sterile field.
    • Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants as needed.
    • Monitor and document patient vital signs, anesthesia administration, and surgical progress.
    • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure a well-organized operating room.
  3. Postoperative Care:

    • Transfer patients to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or the surgical recovery area.
    • Monitor and assess patients' post-surgical condition, addressing any complications promptly.
    • Administer medications, as prescribed, to manage pain and prevent infection.
  4. Patient Education:

    • Provide patients and their families with postoperative care instructions.
    • Offer emotional support and address any concerns or questions.
