A Speech Language Pathologist position is available on a contract basis in La Porte, IN, offering an opportunity to provide specialized therapy in a hospital setting. This role supports inpatient rehab and acute care, requiring dedication to delivering comprehensive speech therapy services with a focus on high-quality patient outcomes.
Key qualifications and experience include:
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Valid State License (no temporary license accepted) and current CCC-SLP certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to manage charting within Cerner electronic medical records
- Reliable and flexible to float between inpatient rehabilitation and acute care units
- Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (travelers preferred)
- Candidates pending licensure may apply but must have license active by start date
Responsibilities involve:
- Delivering speech therapy assessments and treatments to diverse patient populations in a hospital setting
- Coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams to maximize patient recovery
- Adhering to documentation standards using Cerner EMR systems
- Participating in scheduled weekend work including every other Saturday, and an on-call Sunday rotation, with flexible time off adjusted around weekend work
- Optional holiday shift coverage at enhanced pay rates
- Maintaining professional compliance including BLS and licensure requirements
Schedule and hours:
- Day shift, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 guaranteed hours weekly)
- On-call coverage every other Sunday for 4 hours tied to weekend work schedules
- Floating duties between rehab and acute care settings as assigned
