Job Description

Provide specialized inpatient speech therapy services in a dynamic hospital environment, supporting patients across two medical centers in the Kansas City area. This contract opportunity offers the chance to utilize advanced clinical skills, including video swallow studies, within well-equipped inpatient units.

Location & Facilities: The role is based between two hospitals: one with 71 beds and another with 88 beds, both located in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The position requires flexibility to float between these facilities, which are equipped with modern technology and utilize the Meditech documentation system. The inpatient speech therapy units are committed to high-quality patient care and maintaining a supportive clinical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive inpatient speech-language pathology assessments and treatments.
  • Perform video swallow studies to evaluate and manage patients with dysphagia.
  • Document patient progress and treatment plans using the Meditech system.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Manage caseload typically during weekday shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Comply with hospital policies and maintain professional dress code requiring scrubs.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology is required.
  • Proven inpatient hospital experience in speech-language pathology.
  • Expertise in conducting video swallow studies.
  • Strong communication and clinical documentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt between two hospital locations and their specific units.

Schedule:

  • Weekdays, generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., hours may shift based on caseload.
  • No on-call duties.
