Job Description

Deliver hands-on, patient-centered care within a hospital therapy environment, leveraging your expertise as an Occupational Therapist. In this contract role, you'll assess patients facing a variety of challenges and help them regain functionality and independence. You will be responsible for evaluating patients, creating customized treatment plans, and collaborating closely with both the clinical team and patient families to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist
  • Experience in hospital-based occupational therapy preferred
  • Strong assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation skills
  • Excellent communication and collaborative abilities
  • Ability to delegate and supervise therapy assistants, aides, and students according to regulatory and affiliate standards

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations utilizing formal and informal assessment tools to determine physical, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive patient function
  • Develop treatment regimes based on assessment outcomes and individual patient tolerance, initiating care as outlined by physician orders
  • Submit and continually update written treatment plans for inclusion in patient care records, making modifications as patient needs change
  • Co-sign verbal orders received and delegate tasks as needed, providing clear direction and oversight for therapy assistants and aides
  • Coordinate and communicate treatment schedules with patients, families, caregivers, and clinical support staff
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment options, expected progress, and care alternatives through clear explanation and demonstration of appropriate interventions
  • Support learning and performance improvement for assistants and students under your guidance
