Job Description

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current, valid OT license
  • Previous experience in a hospital therapy setting strongly desired
  • Ability to perform safe patient transfers (bed, chair, floor) utilizing proper body mechanics
  • Strong documentation, evaluation, and planning skills
  • Effective communication with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare staff
  • Experience supervising support staff (COTA, rehab techs) according to regulations
  • Familiarity with standardized outcomes measures and evidence-based interventions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design individualized plans of care, integrating goals, treatments, and discharge planning
  • Adjust care in response to patient progress and up-to-date clinical evidence
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare providers using effective teaching strategies
  • Perform thorough clinical examinations and screenings to determine therapy needs
  • Appropriately delegate and monitor the work of support personnel, providing regular feedback
  • Accurately document evaluations, modifications, treatment responses, and progress
  • Collaborate closely with the medical team, sharing recommendations for transfers, discharges, and equipment
  • Adapt intervention plans to address the specific functional and emotional needs of each patient and family
  • Complete required annual education or certifications, when applicable
