Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments using both formal and informal testing to evaluate skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, social, and cognitive functions.
  • Develop and implement individualized, goal-oriented occupational therapy treatment plans tailored to patient assessments and tolerance.
  • Document and update written treatment regimes as part of the overall care plan, coordinating closely with physicians and other care team members.
  • Adjust treatment strategies to reflect patient progress; co-sign verbal orders for occupational therapist assistants as necessary.
  • Create and manage treatment schedules, carefully discussing frequency and duration with patients, their families, and support staff.
  • Provide meaningful education to patients, families, or caregivers related to pathology, treatment options, prognosis, and therapy rationale.
  • Oversee and provide guidance to Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students, ensuring all standards and regulatory guidelines are followed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license and current registration
  • Experience in hospital-based OT preferred
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Strong patient education and communication skills
  • Previous experience supervising assistants or aides is advantageous
