Job Description

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairment (VI)
  • Experience supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
  • Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and low-vision devices
  • Strong skills in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with teachers, families, and support staff

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and ongoing support to K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to meet individual needs
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
  • Collaborate closely with educators and specialists to design effective learning strategies
  • Monitor student progress and maintain thorough documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements
  • Offer consultation and professional development to school staff regarding best practices for visually impaired learners
