Job Description

As part of this assignment, youll provide crucial braille transcription and support services for the upcoming school year. The work may be onsite, with the option for remote (voco) engagement being considered. You'll collaborate with educators and staff, ensuring that students receive the accessible materials and support they need to thrive academically.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • National Certification as a Braillist; must hold certification from the Library of Congress or an equivalent recognized organization.
  • Experience supporting students with visual impairments in educational or related settings.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of braille production, transcription technologies, and adaptive equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Transcribing educational materials into braille and other accessible formats.
  • Assisting educators in supporting students unique learning needs.
  • Maintaining up-to-date, accurate records related to braille materials and student requirements.
  • Consulting on best practices for accommodating students with visual impairments.
  • Providing input on adaptive technology and resources within a school environment.
