Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing specialized support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a dynamic school environment. This contract opportunity runs from August 17th, 2026, to May 26th, 2027, with a part-time schedule of 25 hours per week. Youll work closely with students, families, and educational teams to ensure accessible learning for all.

Primary Qualifications:

  • Current KY SPED License with Visually Impaired (VI) endorsement required
  • Experience supporting students who are blind or visually impaired in a school setting preferred
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching materials to varied vision needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with assistive technology and braille instruction is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the needs of students with visual impairments
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, compensatory skills, and independent living skills
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to modify classroom materials and activities
  • Conduct assessments of students' vision-related needs and document progress regularly
  • Serve as a resource to staff and families, offering strategies and support for student success
  • Advocate for accessible environments and ensure compliance with relevant policies
