Job Description

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Current certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Proven ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Proficient in braille and familiar with alternative communication systems
  • Skilled in adapting curriculum and materials to meet students unique needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with educators, parents, and support staff
  • Previous experience in a school setting is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and interventions to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in classroom settings
  • Conduct assessments to help determine eligibility, strengths, and instructional needs
  • Develop and update IEPs in collaboration with parents and multidisciplinary teams
  • Train staff and students in the use of assistive technology and adaptive devices
  • Advocate for student access and inclusion across all school environments
  • Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and compliance documentation
  • Participate in professional development and stay current with best practices in visual impairment education
