Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment instruction (TVI)
- Proven experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive techniques
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and support staff
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for fostering student growth
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation for students with visual impairments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Assess students strengths and needs to develop targeted learning plans
- Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to accessible formats, including Braille and large print
- Coordinate with classroom teachers to support inclusive educational experiences
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights on student progress and accommodations
- Instruct students in independent living skills, orientation, and mobility as needed
- Stay current with best practices in visual impairment education and assistive tools
