Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Familiarity with assessment tools and educational planning for students with visual impairments
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt and modify curriculum materials to ensure accessibility
- Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment
- Experience in IEP development and progress monitoring
Responsibilities:
- Assess students visual needs and develop individualized educational plans
- Deliver direct instruction in both academic and expanded core curriculum areas
- Provide consultation and resources to classroom teachers for optimal inclusion
- Facilitate the use of assistive technology and adaptive tools to enhance learning
- Collaborate with related service providers and family members to ensure comprehensive support
- Advocate for student needs in team meetings and help plan transitions between grade levels
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and services provided
