Make a difference supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic educational setting near Vestal, NY. This contract opportunity seeks a talented professional dedicated to empowering students and helping them thrive academically and personally.
Your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired will be utilized onsite throughout the 2026-2027 school year. The selected educator will join a collaborative team focused on ensuring access to quality instruction for learners with visual needs, with full-time hours offered.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students in a school-based environment
- Strong knowledge of adaptive technology, instructional strategies, and Braille
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments according to their IEPs
- Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility and inclusivity
- Consult and collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families
- Conduct assessments to determine students strengths and areas of need
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance standards
