Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired starting July 15th, 2026 through May 19th, 2027. This position offers engaging work near Valentine, AZ, with a consistent part-time schedule of 20 hours per week. You will play a pivotal role in creating an inclusive educational environment, empowering students with visual impairments to achieve their fullest potential.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Prior experience working in a school setting with students who are visually impaired
- Ability to assess individual student needs and adapt curriculum accordingly
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and specialists
- Comfort with Braille instruction and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Commitment to fostering independence, self-advocacy, and confidence in students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments within the school environment
- Develop, implement, and adjust Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with the educational team
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to foster accessibility and inclusion
- Maintain timely and thorough documentation to track student progress
- Support students in mastering mobility and self-help skills, promoting independence
- Engage families and caregivers as active partners in the educational process
