Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related field
  • Valid state teaching certification for Visually Impaired Students (TVI)
  • Previous experience providing direct instruction to children or adolescents with visual impairments
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive materials for visually impaired learners
  • Strong communication, organizational, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families

Responsibilities:

  • Assess students individual needs and develop appropriate instructional plans
  • Provide direct specialized instruction and strategies to support orientation, mobility, and daily living skills
  • Adapt curriculum and materials, ensuring accessibility for each student
  • Consult with general education teachers, staff, and families to support student integration and progress
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports on student goals and progress
  • Stay current with best practices and legal regulations in special education and visual impairment services
