An opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Visual Impairments to support K-12 students with moderate to severe vision challenges. This full-time itinerant position involves providing services across multiple schools within Norfolk, VA, from August 24th through June 4th, 2027, totaling 37.5 hours weekly.
Responsibilities include conducting vision assessments and delivering tailored instruction in assistive technology to enhance learning outcomes. Collaboration is essential, working closely with classroom teachers, special education teams, and families to create effective, individualized education plans. The role requires flexibility and expertise in supporting students with complex vision needs in diverse academic settings.
Qualifications:
- Virginia Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification is mandatory.
- Experience working with students exhibiting moderate to severe visual impairments.
- Proficiency in assistive technology and vision-related instructional methods.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Prior experience with itinerant teaching or telehealth service delivery is advantageous.
