Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid and active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License in Virginia
  • Prior experience working with students who are visually impaired or blind
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology beneficial, but not required
  • Flexible to work either full-time or part-time hours as scheduled

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized instructional plans for students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to integrate strategies and accommodations
  • Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes independence and self-advocacy
  • Maintain accurate documentation, IEP records, and progress reports in accordance with district policies
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to visual impairment education
