Step into a rewarding contract opportunity for an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and make a difference in the lives of students with visual impairments. This position, beginning in August 2026 and concluding at the end of the school year, offers both full-time and part-time schedules to suit your availability and lifestyle needs.
In this critical role, youll provide specialized instruction to visually impaired students, empowering them to reach their fullest academic and personal potential. Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License in Virginia
- Prior experience working with students who are visually impaired or blind
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology beneficial, but not required
- Flexible to work either full-time or part-time hours as scheduled
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instructional plans for students with visual impairments
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to integrate strategies and accommodations
- Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes independence and self-advocacy
- Maintain accurate documentation, IEP records, and progress reports in accordance with district policies
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to visual impairment education
