Make a meaningful impact in the lives of K-12 students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in the Northwest/City Center Houston area. This contract position is available immediately and runs through May 26, 2026, offering a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Part-time applicants are also encouraged to apply. Youll provide vital services to multiple schools in an itinerant capacity, supporting a diverse caseload across various schools within the region.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) certification for the State of Texas
- Experience supporting students with diverse visual needs across grade levels K-12
- Dedication to individualized instruction and adaptability across multiple campus environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Prepared to fulfill any time-sensitive credentialing as required by assignment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative specialized instruction to visually impaired students in an itinerant role
- Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
- Assess and address students functional vision and appropriate learning materials
- Collaborate with general education teachers and administrators to ensure accessible learning environments
- Support students use of adaptive technology and other resources to promote independence and inclusion
- Travel between assigned schools to provide consistent and high-quality service
