This opportunity is a contract position serving 20-23 students with diverse needs, and offers you a chance to deliver specialized support in an onsite capacity. The role is full-time at 37.5 hours per week, ensuring the ability to build lasting connections and see real progress in your students lives.
Key Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or relevant certifications
- Proven experience working with children with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Ability to tailor instructional approaches to meet the unique learning requirements of each student
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and accessible learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, utilizing both traditional and assistive technology methods
- Work closely with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to adapt lesson materials and ensure accessibility
- Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals for each student, tracking progress and making adjustments as needed
- Maintain up-to-date records and reports in accordance with school and district requirements
- Participate in team meetings, IEP reviews, and ongoing professional development
