Make a real difference in the lives of students by supporting learners with visual impairments at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you'll bring expertise and compassion to a multidisciplinary team, providing personalized instruction and adaptation strategies to empower students throughout the academic year. This is a full-time, contract opportunity beginning August 10, 2026, and continuing through May 27, 2027, with a consistent MondayFriday schedule totaling 37.5 hours per week.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in specialized instructional approaches for students with visual impairments and a commitment to ongoing collaboration and progress monitoring.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI Teacher)
- Experience working with elementary, middle, and high school students preferred
- Knowledge of adaptive technology and instructional resources for visually impaired learners
- Familiarity with assessment tools and formal/informal testing methods
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and participation in ARD meetings
- Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans according to district standards
Role Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver instructional plans tailored to students with visual impairments in alignment with district guidelines
- Conduct ongoing evaluations of student progress using both formal and informal assessment tools
- Participate in ARD meetings and provide meaningful input regarding student needs and accommodations
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure comprehensive support and advocacy for each student
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding student achievement and program goals
