Qualifications and Experience:
- Current state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments
- Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, tactile graphics, and orientation & mobility concepts
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with educators, families, and support staff
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability in response to diverse student needs
Daily Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction tailored to students who are blind or visually impaired
- Develop and modify lesson plans and instructional materials based on individual student goals
- Support classroom teachers by sharing strategies and resources that foster access and inclusion
- Teach students the use of Braille, low-vision tools, and other adaptive technologies
- Participate in IEP meetings and document student progress effectively
- Advocate for students needs, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams
