Step into a pivotal role supporting students K-12+ who are visually impaired, extending specialized services across elementary, middle, and high school environments. This contract-based opportunity (8/5/265/19/27) is ideal for professionals ready to empower students through itinerant teaching, balancing travel between geographically grouped schools to minimize commute time. Full-time (35 hours/week) is available, but experienced part-time candidates will also be considered. For those seeking virtual roles, applicants must have at least 5 years of experience teaching as a Virtual Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
Your expertise with Braille and assistive technology will be invaluable, especially if youre familiar with leveraging the Federal Quota program. The caseload includes students in both general education settings and specialized classrooms, requiring adaptability and a comprehensive understanding of accessibility needs. The use of the TN Pulse platform for IEPs means comfort with digital management of educational plans and participation in IEP meetings is essential. Familiarity with Chromebooks is also a plus.
Desired experience and qualifications:
- Current, active DOE teaching certification
- Minimum five years as a Virtual TVI for virtual candidates
- Proficiency in Braille and multiple forms of assistive technology
- Experience with K-12+ caseloads, ideally across varied classroom settings
- Ability to travel between local schools as needed
- Experience with the Federal Quota program preferred
- TN Pulse platform familiarity beneficial
- Fingerprint clearance required before assignment
