Bring your passion and expertise in supporting students with visual impairments to a dynamic educational setting near Smithville, GA. This contract opportunity is designed for those skilled in delivering specialized instruction, both direct and consultative, to a small, meaningful caseload of visually impaired students across multiple school sites. Preference is for in-person collaboration, but candidates open to providing virtual services (with a brief demonstration) are encouraged to apply.
Key Qualifications:
- Certified as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Georgia
- Experience teaching or consulting in K-12 school settings
- Proficiency in delivering instruction and support to students with diverse visual needs, including those who are totally blind and braille users
- Skilled in IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to travel between 4-5 school locations as part of a 5-hour per week schedule
- Comfortable providing both direct teaching and consultative services
- Strong communication skills for working with students, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to approximately eight students (four weekly, four consult), including one student who is totally blind with primary VI needs
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with students IEPs
- Offer consultative support to fellow educators and support staff
- Travel between multiple school sites within the district as needed
- Utilize braille and adaptive technology to ensure student access and engagement
- Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to IEP meetings
