Step into a pivotal role supporting students with visual impairments as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time contract assignment beginning as soon as possible and lasting through the end of the school year. Your expertise will provide essential support and instruction to empower a caseload of 14 students, making a direct impact on their educational journey.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) license in the state of Virginia
- Experience teaching or working directly with visually impaired students
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive instructional methods
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Exceptional communication, organization, and advocacy skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
- Deliver specialized instruction and support, adapting curriculum to meet unique needs
- Conduct assessments and progress monitoring to guide instruction
- Consult with general education teachers and staff to facilitate inclusion
- Provide guidance to families on strategies and resources for student success
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
