Qualifications:

• Valid certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience in K-12 educational settings, preferably with diverse student populations
• Proficient in Braille and accessible technology for visual impairments
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and relevant federal/state regulations

Responsibilities:

• Conduct functional vision assessments and collaboratively develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to ensure accessibility for students with visual impairments
• Provide direct instruction in Braille literacy, use of assistive technology, and orientation/mobility techniques
• Offer consultative support to general educators, staff, and families regarding best practices
• Track student progress and maintain clear documentation in accordance with district policies
• Advocate for student inclusion and accessibility across school settings
