Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- State teaching credentials applicable for the position
- Experience working with school-aged children who have visual impairments
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educational teams
- Ability to adapt to diverse classroom settings and individualized student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
- Develop, adapt, and implement educational materials and techniques suitable for visually impaired learners
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure access and progress in the curriculum
- Participate in IEP meetings, document student progress, and contribute to the development of individualized education plans
- Train staff and support families on the use of assistive technologies and accommodations
- Maintain compliance with school and state educational policies
