Job Description

Step into a purposeful role for the 2026-2027 school year as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, where your expertise will directly support student growth and independence. This part-time contract opportunity is dedicated to supporting a caseload of eight students with diverse needs, with service time averaging 15 hours per week, delivered exclusively onsite. In this role, youll play a key part in enriching students educational experiences and fostering self-confidence.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington TVI certification required.
  • Previous experience supporting visually impaired students in a school setting is highly desirable.
  • Must comply with fingerprinting requirements through OSPI prior to start.
  • Strong collaboration skills for effective teamwork within multidisciplinary educational teams.
  • Ability to tailor instructional strategies and accommodations to meet each student's needs and learning plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver customized instruction and direct support to visually impaired students, aligned with their IEPs and service schedules.
  • Create accessible instructional materials and adapt curricula based on individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and related service staff to ensure cohesive support and communication.
  • Conduct regular assessments and provide documentation on student progress and program effectiveness.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, supporting inclusion in schoolwide activities and general education classrooms.
