Make a meaningful difference supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a school setting near Schaumburg, IL. This onsite, full-time contract opportunity runs from as soon as possible through the end of the school year, offering the chance to collaborate with dedicated educators and actively contribute to students' academic and personal success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, utilizing specialized techniques and adaptive materials.
- Assess student needs and progress, collaborating with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to create and implement effective educational plans.
- Advocate for accessibility, providing consultation and resources to optimize learning environments.
- Maintain accurate service documentation and participate in required meetings and IEP development.
- Serve as an ongoing resource on best practices, emerging technologies, and legislative requirements related to vision services.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- Current Illinois State Licensure for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
- Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments in educational settings.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Passion for fostering independence and academic achievement for students of diverse backgrounds.
