Bring your expertise to a vibrant educational environment near Sanford, NC, where youll make a lasting impact working with a diverse group of 20-23 students in varied grade levels and with a spectrum of needs. This onsite, contract opportunity runs through May 2027 and is designed for a collaborative, adaptable educator ready to support the academic growth and independence of learners who are blind or visually impaired.
Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) license and certifications required
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a K-12 setting preferred
- Strong communication skills for engaging with students, families, and school staff
- Comfort adapting instructional materials and providing accessible learning tools
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive instruction and support tailored to each students unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, aides, and related service providers to ensure inclusive learning experiences
- Adapt curriculum and classroom materials into accessible formats (Braille, tactile graphics, large print, etc.)
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Provide orientation and mobility strategies and support as appropriate
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, helping foster independence and self-advocacy skills
