As the dedicated educator for 20-23 students with varying visual needs, youll play a crucial role in crafting individualized instructional strategies and fostering academic growth. This onsite, full-time position welcomes applicants who are passionate about equitable education and skilled in adapting curriculum materials for students with visual impairments.
What Were Looking For:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or relevant certifications (required)
- Experience teaching or supporting visually impaired students in school settings preferred
- Strong communication and collaborative skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and orientation & mobility techniques a plus
- Commitment to inclusive education and student advocacy
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students with a range of visual disabilities
- Modify general education curriculum and materials for accessibility
- Consult with teachers, families, and support teams to support student achievement
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring
- Provide training on accessible materials and strategies for classroom staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
