Job Description
Make an impact on the lives of students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a supportive and inclusive school environment. This contract role offers the opportunity to work directly with a diverse group of 20-23 students, each with unique strengths and learning requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to visually impaired students in accordance with IEP goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations are implemented effectively
- Assess students functional vision and learning needs to create tailored lesson plans
- Adapt classroom materials and create accessible resources for students with vision impairments
- Maintain ongoing communication with families and the educational team regarding student progress
- Support skill development in orientation, mobility, and daily living where required
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and required documentation
Desired Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure/certification
- Experience with educational strategies and assistive technologies for students with visual impairments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple student needs and adapt instruction creatively
- Previous experience in a school setting is highly valued
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning atmosphere
