Job Description
A position is available for a skilled Visually Impaired Teacher to support students in an educational setting. This role involves providing specialized instruction and resources to students with visual impairments, ensuring they receive a comprehensive, accessible education tailored to their needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate the educational needs of students with visual impairments.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) focused on visual impairment.
- Deliver direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to support student learning.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Assist with classroom accommodations and accessible materials preparation.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with state and federal education guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments.
- Proven experience teaching students with visual impairments in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.
