Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including those with visual impairments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with teachers, specialists, and families
- Ability to assess students' individual needs and adapt instructional materials accordingly
- Familiarity with assistive technology, Braille, and accessible instructional strategies
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students needs
- Provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in classroom settings
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to modify curriculum materials for accessibility
- Train students in the use of assistive devices, technology, and orientation and mobility skills as appropriate
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and adaptations provided
- Advocate for student inclusion and equal access to academic and extracurricular activities
