Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience with individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Knowledge of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Previous experience in school environments preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired, based on IEP goals
  • Assess students functional vision and learning needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure accessibility and success
  • Develop and modify curriculum materials to support diverse learning styles
  • Provide Braille instruction and orientation/mobility training as needed
  • Teach students to use assistive technology and tools
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
  • Support professional development for staff about visual impairments
