Key Qualifications:

• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments
• Strong proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
• Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with teachers, administrators, and families
• Ability to travel between school sites, if required

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess the educational needs of students with visual impairments and create tailored instructional plans
• Provide direct instruction and guidance on Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of assistive devices
• Consult with general education teachers to adapt classroom materials and environments
• Work closely with families to support student progress and independence
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements
• Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in best practices for visual impairment education
