Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Texas Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification required
  • Experience providing direct instruction to students who are visually impaired in K-12 settings is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with braille, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies essential for visually impaired learners
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educational staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized instruction tailored to the needs of visually impaired students across K-12 grade levels
  • Adapt curriculum materials and classroom activities to ensure accessibility and engagement
  • Assess students strengths and areas of need; contribute to comprehensive educational plans
  • Partner with classroom teachers and support staff to create an inclusive environment
  • Guide students in building self-advocacy skills and independence
  • Maintain documentation and progress reports in accordance with district and state requirements
