Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching credential with appropriate certification for Visually Impaired instruction.
- Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and adaptive educational materials.
- Ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and track student progress.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Collaborative approach, working effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and administrators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to visually impaired students across grade levels, fostering an accessible and engaging learning environment.
- Adapt curriculum materials, teach Braille, and introduce assistive technology to enhance student independence.
- Conduct functional vision assessments and recommend appropriate accommodations.
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to goal setting, and monitor progress.
- Offer support, training, and resources to classroom teachers and families to ensure consistent, inclusive practices.
- Maintain thorough documentation and comply with all regulations and protocols.
