Qualifications:

• Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience providing services for students with visual impairments in K-12 settings
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet individual needs
• Knowledge of assistive technology and Braille instruction
• Compassion, patience, and creativity in working with diverse learners

Responsibilities:

• Assess student needs and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) focused on visual impairment services
• Deliver direct instruction, support classroom teachers, and demonstrate best practices in accessibility
• Modify classroom materials and integrate adaptive tools and technology
• Provide consultation and training to school staff and families on supporting visually impaired students
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
• Advocate for the needs of students with visual impairments and ensure compliance with applicable laws and guidelines
