Make a difference in students lives by supporting learners with visual impairments. As a Visually Impaired Teacher on a contract assignment near Saint Louis, youll provide essential educational services, foster independence, and serve as a key resource for both students and staff.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or Blind Education
- Experience working with children who are blind or visually impaired, including use of Braille and assistive technology
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and school personnel
- Flexibility and adaptability within a dynamic school environment
- Commitment to fostering growth, independence, and confidence in students
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for students with visual impairments
- Assess student needs and adapt curriculum using accessible formats, technology, and tactile materials
- Provide direct support in academic, social, daily living, and orientation and mobility skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to maximize student success and inclusion
- Train school staff and peers in appropriate methods and tools for supporting students with visual impairments
- Engage in regular progress monitoring and comprehensive documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing professional development
