Make a profound impact on students lives by supporting children with visual impairments as a dedicated educator for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity is perfect for experienced Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI/BVI) who bring energy, expertise, and a commitment to tailored instruction. The role, based near Saint Francis, MN, will focus on providing both direct and indirect instructional minutes for approximately 23 students, including a student learning Braille.
Qualifications and Required Experience:
- Active special education license for Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) instruction issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
- Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille; experience teaching Braille is highly valued
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, families, and related service providers
- Excellent organizational skills and adaptability to varied student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver quality direct and indirect instruction to students with visual impairments based on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Support a diverse caseload without case management responsibilities, allowing complete focus on instructional services
- Provide accessible instructional materials and accommodations as needed
- Collaborate with general education and special education teams to promote student engagement and independence
- Monitor, document, and communicate progress to relevant stakeholders
