Desired Skills and Experience:

• Specialized certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably in a school environment
• Strong understanding of assistive technology and adaptive tools for visual impairments
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities when working with students, colleagues, and parents
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• High level of organizational skills and adaptability

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction and support tailored to the needs of students with visual impairments, focusing on both academic and functional life skills
• Adapt curriculum materials to accessible formats
• Consult with general education teachers and staff to support an inclusive classroom environment
• Assess students needs and progress, documenting outcomes and adjusting strategies as necessary
• Collaborate with families to maximize student learning and independence
• Advocate for appropriate accommodations and resources within the school setting
