Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration abilities
- Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adapted materials
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Passion for fostering independence and learning in students with diverse needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students visual abilities and create personalized instructional plans
- Adapt curriculum materials and develop resources to support student access to learning
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technology
- Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing progress monitoring
- Advocate for accessible educational environments
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district requirements
