Job Description

Empower students to achieve their fullest potential by providing specialized instruction to visually impaired learners in an educational setting. In this rewarding contract position, youll collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure an accessible, supportive environment where each students unique needs are addressed.

Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairment
Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and alternative formats for instructional materials
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Previous experience in a school setting is highly desirable
Ability to adapt instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and levels of vision

Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, fostering both academic and functional independence
Assess student skills and develop goals tailored to individual needs
Consult with general education teachers to modify curriculum and classroom materials
Teach Braille reading and writing, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technology
Advocate for student access to educational programs and community resources
Participate actively in IEP meetings and maintain accurate progress reports
Engage with families to provide resources and support for at-home learning
