Job Description
This full-time position is ideal for a certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) committed to supporting students with visual impairments from kindergarten through 12th grade. Located in Roxbury, MA, this onsite role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a diverse school community.
Key responsibilities include assessing and developing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments, collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff, implementing specialized instructional strategies, and utilizing assistive technology to enhance learning outcomes. Candidates will engage closely with students, parents, and the broader educational team to promote academic success and independence.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Massachusetts Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license
- Proven professional experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of Braille, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
