Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in a school or similar environment
- Strong collaboration skills with teachers, support staff, and families
- Proficiency in creating and adapting materials to be accessible (Braille, large print, tactile graphics, etc.)
- Skilled in educating others about vision loss and inclusive practices
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Assess students functional vision and learning needs
- Offer recommendations for accessibility tools, adaptive technology, and classroom strategies
- Work with classroom teachers to ensure visual accommodations and modifications are in place
- Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding best practices and accessibility solutions
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and services delivered
