This contract opportunity is ideal for a skilled professional with experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or Braillist. Situated near Rohnert Park, CA, the position spans from early August to early September, allowing you to make a tangible difference in students' lives during the school year.
Qualifications:
- National certification in braille transcription, such as certification from the Library of Congress or an equivalent authority
- Prior experience working as a Braillist or Teacher of the Visually Impaired within a school setting is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in preparing and translating materials into braille for instructional purposes
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication abilities for collaboration with special education teams, teachers, and support personnel
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage assigned caseload
- Comfortable working onsite, with potential opportunity for virtual engagement
Responsibilities:
- Prepare classroom materials in braille, large print, or tactile formats to facilitate student access to curriculum content
- Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to adapt instructional materials and support visually impaired learners
- Assist with the ongoing development and maintenance of braille literacy for students
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district and legal guidelines regarding student information
- Support day-to-day needs as a Braillist, ensuring accessibility for all assigned caseloads
