A dynamic opportunity is available for an experienced Visually Impaired Teacher to provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments. This part-time, onsite position is based in Rochester, NY, and supports learners as part of a dedicated educational team.
Position Details:
- Location: Rochester, NY
- Schedule: Up to 4 days per week, Monday through Friday
- Contract Dates: January 12, 2026 June 26, 2026
- Caseload and specific locations to be finalized upon placement
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support to students with visual impairments to enhance their academic progress
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and related service providers to create effective individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Utilize specialized teaching techniques and materials designed for visually impaired learners
- Monitor student progress and provide ongoing assessments in alignment with educational standards
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes independence and confidence
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid New York State Teaching License in Blind and Visually Impaired education (candidates must submit a PDF copy with application)
- Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or in a similar role within educational settings
- Strong knowledge of visual impairment strategies, accessibility tools, and assistive technology
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to professional ethics and student-centered teaching approaches
