Job Description

Step into an impactful role supporting students with visual impairments across multiple campuses in the Houston area. As a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you'll work in an itinerant capacity to help K-12 learners achieve their potential. This onsite contract position offers meaningful, hands-on work with a diverse caseload throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas Teacher of the Visually Impaired license (TVI)
  • Experience or strong interest in working with K-12 students who are visually impaired or blind
  • Ability to travel between schools within the district (itinerant service)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to educational equity and individualized support

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instruction and support to students with visual impairments (K-12)
  • Adapt, modify, and develop instructional materials to meet students unique needs
  • Assess student progress and participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with educational and support staff
  • Serve as a resource for general education teachers, sharing strategies and adaptations
  • Work across multiple school sites to ensure consistent, high-quality service
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that celebrates student successes
