Job Description
Step into a pivotal role supporting students with visual impairments in a school-based setting for the 20262027 academic year. This onsite, part-time contract position offers the chance to work directly with a diverse caseload of eight students, providing specialized instructional support tailored to their unique learning goals. Service delivery will average 15 hours per week, accommodating a range of service minutes across weekly, monthly, and quarterly intervals for each student.
Key Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Washington Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification required
- Must be fingerprinted through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI)
- Prior experience as a TVI or in similar roles supporting visually impaired students in educational settings
- Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Strong collaborative skills to coordinate with teachers, staff, families, and service providers
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational abilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments according to individualized service schedules
- Complete timely assessments and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring
- Consult with classroom teachers and related service staff on accommodations and adaptive strategies
- Support students in developing skills for independence and academic achievement
- Maintain accurate records and comply with state and district reporting requirements
