Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment or a comparable credential
- Demonstrated experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Proficient in Braille instruction, adaptive technology, and accessible educational materials
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and support staff
- Flexibility, creativity, and dedication to fostering student independence
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess students functional vision and instructional needs
- Design and deliver tailored instruction in visual skills, Braille, and assistive technology
- Modify classroom materials and adapt curriculum for accessibility
- Consult with classroom teachers to facilitate inclusive learning environments
- Monitor progress, document outcomes, and attend IEP meetings
- Provide training or guidance to staff and family members as needed
