Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification specific to Visual Impairment (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Experience designing and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments
- Proficiency with assistive and adaptive technology (Braille, screen readers, magnification tools)
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with educators, support staff, and families
- Ability to adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments
- Compassionate approach and commitment to student empowerment
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students visual abilities and educational needs, contributing to IEP development
- Provide direct instruction individually and in small groups, both in academic and daily living skills
- Collaborate on creating accessible instructional materials and integrating assistive technology
- Support general and special education teachers with strategies to accommodate students needs
- Serve as an advocate and informational resource to families and staff regarding visual impairments
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods as needed
